SkinPen Microneedling Aftercare

Aftercare is not optional. It protects your results. Hydration and protection are essential after SkinPen Microneedling to support recovery, reduce irritation and improve overall treatment outcomes.

SkinPen Microneedling Aftercare

Microneedling causes a temporary increase in water loss from the skin. Keeping your skin well hydrated and protected during this period supports recovery, reduces irritation and improves overall treatment outcomes.

First 24 hours

Do not apply any products to the skin, including cleanser. Unexpected reactions may occur when products not proven safe for post microneedling are applied. If needed, gently rinse with cool water only.

Post 24 hours calming care

If prescribed, begin applying RESCUE Calming Complex after the first 24 hours. RESCUE is specifically formulated for post microneedling to soothe and calm the skin.

Barrier support

Sun exposure

Avoid sun exposure on the day of treatment as sunscreen is not worn. Sunscreen may be resumed after 24 hours. Continue to minimise sun exposure for at least 72 hours post treatment.

Protection essential

Exercise and heat

Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive perspiration, saunas and heat exposure for 72 hours post procedure. Increased blood flow and sweat can irritate compromised skin and delay recovery.

72 hour restriction

Active skincare

Avoid active topical products such as retinoids, vitamin C and exfoliating acids for at least one week following your SkinPen Microneedling treatment to reduce irritation risk.

How to Get the Most Out of Your SkinPen Microneedling Results

SkinPen Microneedling is the stimulus. Strategy determines the outcome.

Skin continues responding for weeks after microneedling

SkinPen Microneedling initiates collagen production, but the repair process continues well beyond the treatment day. Supporting this healing window correctly can significantly improve texture, firmness, clarity and recovery comfort.

LED Light Therapy (7–10 days post)

LED is one of the most effective ways to support healing after SkinPen Microneedling. Performed 7 to 10 days post treatment, it helps calm inflammation, support collagen activity and encourage even recovery.

  • Supports skin repair and regeneration
  • Helps reduce residual redness or sensitivity
  • Enhances overall SkinPen Microneedling results
  • No downtime and suitable for most skins

BBL or IPL (if suitable)

For suitable skin types and concerns, BBL or IPL may be combined with SkinPen Microneedling. This allows treatment of deeper collagen stimulation, pigmentation and vascular concerns alongside surface texture correction.

  • Targets sun damage and redness
  • Stimulates collagen at a deeper level
  • May be performed same day if clinically appropriate
  • Assessment based for safety and outcomes

Home care compliance

Skin is more vulnerable after microneedling. Hydration, barrier repair and sun protection are critical to protect results and reduce irritation.

  • Hydration supports comfort and healing
  • Barrier support reduces inflammation risk
  • SPF resumed after 24 hours and used consistently
  • Random products reduce predictability of results

Consistency beats intensity

SkinPen Microneedling delivers the best outcomes when performed as part of a structured series with correct spacing, supportive treatments and appropriate home care. Aggressive one off treatments do not replace consistency.

Your treatment plan may include SkinPen Microneedling alone or in combination with LED, IPL or BBL, depending on your skin condition, tolerance and goals.

Results come from planning, not guesswork

Every SkinPen Microneedling treatment is assessed individually. Not every add on is suitable for every skin.

The goal is controlled healing, predictable results and long term skin health.
